Herb Bread

This Herb Bread has become a quick and easy favorite in my home. Instead of white bread, we have this on a daily basis. It goes great with the Garlic Butter that we have started making. I’ve given it away many times as a gift and it’s always appreciated with quite a bit of begging for more!

Ingredients:

  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 2 tbs sugar
  • 1 tbs salt
  • 3 tbs oil
  • up to 5 cups flour
  • 3 tbs cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tbs parsley
  • 1 tbs oregano
  • 1 tbs basil

Preparation:

  1. Dissolve yeast in water
  2. Add sugar, salt, oil, and 2 cups flour. Mix well
  3. Add cheese and herbs. Mix well
  4. Beat in enough remaining flour to make soft dough
  5. Knead in floured surface until smooth, about 5 minutes
  6. Cover and let stand until double in size
  7. Knead 2 minutes, separate to 2 loaves
  8. Shape and place in prepared loaf pans
  9. Let rise 30 minutes
  10. Bake at 350 degree Fahrenheit  for 50-55 minutes

Cool slightly and serve with cheese or garlic butter.
