A Fun May Block

Good morning! I have used things I found online and created/recreated a May block for my group, “Once a Month 12.5″ Block Swap.” Where I originally saw this block, it was called “Lazy Daisy.” Here are the instructions…

Materials List:

  • Flower Print: (4) 6 1/2″ x 6 1/2″
  • White: (8) 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″
  • Green: (4) 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″

Draw diagonal lines on the white and green fabrics.

Directions (repeat four times):

Start by putting (1) White 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ on the top left corner of the print 6 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ fabric.

When finished, trim a quarter inch past the seam, open and iron flat. Add a second white 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ to the top right of the print 6 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ fabric.

This is now ready to add the green. It will go on the bottom right hand corner as the fabric is laying exactly as pictured.

Like this. Sew it, trim and iron open.

You should have FOUR of these blocks when done the above.

Sew up on your design board as such. The block you created will turn a 90 degree turn each placement.

Assemble and done. Have fun!
