Mystery Quilt: #3, Part 6

Are you ready for block 6? I am so excited to be working on this quilt again. I feel we still have time to get it done before the holiday and am going to push for that! Besides, I really want to get back to my sewing machine. For some odd reason, I took a hiatus and it wasn’t a scheduled one. I got distracted by a game that Mark wanted to play as a family and a game on Facebook. Time to get back to what I love to do!

Block 6. For those doing the SMALL version, you’ll create your second row with this block plus number 4 and 5.

Materials List (remember to double this if you are making the LARGE quilt):

  • Red #1: (2) 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″
  • Red #2: (1) 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″
  • White: (5) 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ and (4) 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″
  • Blue: (4) 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″

Draw diagonal lines on (1) Red #2 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ and (5) White 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″. This is a block (near) entirely made from HSTs.

Create the following HSTs:

  • (2) Red #1 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ and (2) White 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ to create (4) Red #1/White HSTs.
  • (1) Blue 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ and (1) Red #2 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ to create (2) Blue/Red #2 HSTs.
  • (3) Blue 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ and (3) White 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ to create (6) Blue/White HSTs at 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ when done.

When finished assemble as shown above. You should see we have (4) White 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ in the middle of the Red #1s and the Blue/White HSTs. Quite a simple block and fun to make with the fast HSTs.
