Mystery Monday: #3, Part 3

Good morning. I am writing this a week ahead of time. I’m prepping for vacation this week and did not want to forget to get this post out. So… It’s done a week early instead of late. Go me, right?

This week is all HSTs. Super simple and fast when you chain piece them like I do. Sew all them on one side of the drawn line and then cut the thread to separate them, turn and sew them all down the other side of the drawn line. After snipping the thread, cut the HSTs apart ON the line drawn. Iron open, trim and done. Takes almost no time at all.

Materials for the third block (remember to double this block if you are doing the LARGE quilt):

  • Red #1: (1) 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″
  • Red #2: (3) 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″
  • White: (6) 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ and (4) 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″
  • Blue: (2) 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″

Draw a single diagonal line on all white pieces measuring 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ but not on the white pieces measuring 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″.

  • (1) Red #1 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ and (1) White 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ = (2) Red #1/White HSTs
  • (3) Red #2 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ and (3) White 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ = (6) Red #2/White HSTs
  • (2) Blue 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ and (2) White 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ = (4) Blue/White HSTs

Assemble using the HSTs and the (4) White 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ as shown above. The (2) Red #1/White HSTs are in the middle, the (6) Red#2/White HSTs are outside of that.

The center. I do hope this all makes sense. Say something if you have any questions!
