Ok, some of you have noticed that, despite my good intentions, I haven’t been posting as much as I said I would. Well, I have an excellent excuse! Really! It’s the best one I’ve come up with yet!
Yes. Me. I’m actually working. For 4 hours a day, 6 days a week, I’m working. Try not to faint with shock. I get all dressed up, wearing black pants that constantly stain the underside of my fingernails and drive me insane, and stand on my feet for four hours a day! Sometimes even six hours, if she really needs me. Like yesterday. I was there from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. She had family things going on and so I stayed and kept the store open while she was gone.
Oh, and I’m not getting paid. Ha! It’s a friend and she only recently opened her store. I voluntarily show up, every day, for four hours. She keeps acting surprised when I do show up and tell her I’m going to show up the next day.
For most of my adult life, I’ve had to beg people to do things for me. If I needed the lawn mowed, I was on my hands and knees, massive amounts of dollar bills in my hand, begging someone to mow it. I couldn’t do it – not with my back – and so begging was in order. I figured, if you were offering to pay someone, they shouldn’t complain and make you beg.
When Miss Rebecca opened her store, I decided I was going to keep her from begging anyone to help her or having to spend great quantities of money to get some help in her store. I know of one of her children that refuses to help her unless she pays them. Rude, if you ask me!
I do remember what it was like to open a new store. You weren’t sure if you’d be able to make the rent by the end of the month, much less pay someone for helping you!
So, I voluntarily stand for 4 hours, pretending I know what I’m talking about and selling fashionable clothing to people who wander in. I told her, as long as it doesn’t hurt my back, expect me for 4 hours a day.
And, for those of you in the United States, she has an online store – I manage that one – and sells anywhere in the U.S. Check it out for me? Get her a few dollars in the door so she can keep those doors open…. ?
I kinda like her clothes – if she had my size. I’m going to have to lose some sizes so I can wear all the cool stuff!
So, please forgive my posts being late or forgotten – I’ve been busy! Between working for Miss Rebecca and prepping for end-of-year stuff with my children, I’m constantly losing track of time.
