Hand Sewing… Again

Yes. I started another project that requires hand sewing. I have not finish the bed runner, yet. I’m working on it – slowly so my hands don’t hurt too much. I need to get it back out before it gets to the “discarded forever” pile in my sewing room.

The Curious Quilter posted a tutorial awhile back and it’s been an open tab in my Firefox browser ever since. I wanted to try it!

This is my attempt and, again, I did it from memory, not from the page in front of me.

Remember the strip Jen was marking for me? Well…

When it was done, it puckered a little bit. Warped and didn’t lay quite flat. Was that because my stitches are too close together? Should I do a half-inch instead of a quarter-inch on my lines? If you have an answer, please say so!

And then, I hand-stitched the edges. I haven’t done the two long sides yet but I will. However, this is how it looks so far…

That’s where I’m at right now. Of course, it’s red, white and blue. I just neglected to flip it to face the right way before taking a picture.

There ya have it … my latest project…
