Last night, I made my famous spaghetti sauce and spaghetti. However, as a pre-dinner “sandwich” (as the boys call it), I made Bruschetta for the first time in years. I make it the way I was taught in Italy, not the “Americanized” way I see around and about. One is not better than the other! It’s just a personal preference. It turned out great.
That wasn’t the best part of dinner, though. The best part was my children! First, when they were told dinner was ready, they ran to wash their hands and get to the table. It was nice to see the enthusiasm! And then, without prompting, they asked to be excused when they were done. Now, eating their dinner without a lot of sidetracks, that’s still being worked on. I was so impressed with them. They are coming along nicely.
This morning was the first time I’ve hit the snooze button on my alarm clock. My youngest got up at 4 a.m. in tears and I spent some time soothing him, snuggling him in my bed and then falling back asleep. I did get up just a few short minutes later, though.
I made scrambled eggs, toast with raspberry jam and a small bowl of fruit for breakfast. Everyone seemed pleased with it. I haven’t given a thought to lunch because of the yard sale. Oops.
I went in the house to clean up the kitchen and found the boys working feverishly to clean it up *for* me. I was stunned. Their daddy has been coming over bright and early while he is home and he convinced them to “help mommy.” My oldest was so proud of how he washed dishes for mommy!
I get tears where before I hadn’t noticed. My boys are blooming in this house, with me no longer working and not caring about “stuff.”
Thank you for listening,
